What do I mean by this? As I've said before, I stink at regular routines of any kind.
Now that my kids are grown, I don't have to schedule anything! And I don't.
Regular exercise is boring.
I can't do it, but I do recognize that our bodies were made (all knowing nature) to move.
Remember an organic food diet is going to make you lose weight. That's my favorite organic secret.
Minimal exercise helps to keep your body energy flowing so you can process the food properly.
Think how primitive man moved. He did not just go out running for the sake of running.
He saved that for life or death situations.
Animals do not go out for a jog or an aerobic workout. These perfectly healthy, organic specimens, do minimal exercise.
Our society created these extreme exercise routines in reaction to America's obesity crisis.
Yes, people need movement to keep their bodies healthy but not to the extreme measures encouraged by the market today.
The things you do everyday can be tweaked, extended or exaggerated, to get optimal use out of them for your body's benefit.
Sometimes my son makes me feel silly doing them, but they're fun, and okay, sometimes silly. Laughing is good exercise too!
Walking
Primitive man probably did do a lot of this.
Our bodies are made to walk great distances.
Walking is easy and beneficial but again do not feel pressured to go for a three mile walk everyday.
Walk as much as you can , sneak it in. It requires no equipment and can be done where ever you are.
You can sneak in minimal exercise by parking further from the store, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, check the mail the indirect route (go around the block first, down the hall and come back, etc.), go down extra isles at the grocery store (don't look at stuff), and go back to check you locked your door before getting in the car, are just a few I've used.
Be creative, just a few extra steps here and there can really add up to better overall health.
It is easy weight loss.
Have fun and laugh. It's therapeutic.
Mini Jogs
Mini jogs are what I do sporadically, usually while waiting for something.
Like boiling water for tea or cooking. While the water is heating, I go for a mini jog around the kitchen.
I take small, exaggerated steps to get in the most movement, and don't forget to pump your arms.
After these brief periods of movement I can feel my blood flowing more freely.
Tammi's Tidbits: It burns more calories eating a stalk of celery, than are actually in celery! Every movement your body makes counts.
Move it!
Weights
Anything you lift can be lifted repeatedly for some added muscle toning and minimal exercise.
Pick the trash can up five times before bringing it back from the curb, lift the cans of tomatoes five times over your head on your way to the way to the stove, pick up the laundry basket repeatedly or lift it over your head and back to your waist, repeatedly, or hold it out in front of you and bring back to your waist repeatedly.
Just move!
Minimal exercises add up over the day, burning calories and toning muscles.
Dancing
I do little dances when ever the mood strikes me.
Sometimes a catchy commercial, sometimes playtime with my dog, or I put on my favorite music and go for it!
Dancing is fun and you move different muscles than usual. It also helps with stress, and depression. It energizes your body and soul.
I worked with a guy, years ago, who had lost over fifty pounds by doing nothing more than dancing at his local bar three to four times a week! (not that kinda dancing!).
Minimal exercise.
Isometrics
Isometrics is working your muscles, through resistance, without equipment.
Squeeze your butt cheeks together right now.
That's and isometric movement.
Squeeze your butt cheeks together repeatedly (ten reps) at your desk at work and you've secretly and easily done a little work out that strengthens, relaxes and tones muscles and burns calories.
Push your hands together as hard as you can, at breastbone level, elbows out to the side, hold for a few seconds and release. This works the pectorals.
While sitting, place your hands on your thighs and press down hard, leaning forward slightly. This works your abdominals.
Still sitting, place your hands, palms down, on the front of the chair seat and press down. This works your biceps and shoulders.
And still sitting, press your thighs tightly together. This works your inner thighs.
Suck in your gut. This strengthens your abdominal muscles.
*Do ten reps, holding each contraction for a few seconds.
Moving more than you do right now is all it takes to get your blood flowing.
Get your heart rate up and keep it up for at least 20 min. (which can be done by something as simple as arm circles) and you will have a toner, healthier body.
I'm going to repeat myself again:
An organic food diet will help you lose weight effortlessly with minimal exercise! So keep things simple for less guilt and stress.
